A place is not only something to be looked at. It is something to move through, to feel, to discover.

For several years, I have photographed the spaces conceived by Gilles & Boissier. With each project, I have learned not simply to look at their architecture, but to observe what gives it form: light passing through a room, the meeting of two materials, a shadow across an object, a passage, a detail that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.

I rarely photograph a place as a whole. I prefer to approach it slowly, to seek out what naturally draws my gaze and understand why I pause there.

In this way, project after project, the photographs become more than documentation of a space. They tell of a way of inhabiting it.

To look at an object is also to observe the relationship it has with its surroundings.
An object is never entirely silent. It speaks of a way of living, creating and inhabiting.
Some details hold the spirit of an entire place.
There is a relationship between an object and a space. That is often where I begin to look.
Every place leaves a trace. Some stay with us.
